Tall quarto, frontis, with two maps, one folding; expertly rebound and with new endpapers in half maroon morocco with matching marbled paper over boards, five raised bands, gilt decoration and titles. Includes Memoir on the Life and Travels of John Lewis Burckhardt, Journeys along the Banks of the Nile, Journey from Upper Egypt through the Deserts of Nubia, Some Notices on the Countries of Soudan, West of Darfour with Vocabularies of the Borgho and Bornou Languages, etc. Found in a disbound state, the text block and accompanying maps were nevertheless well preserved and intact. A very pleasing copy.
