Bound in original dark green cloth with pictorial gilt and titles. Wear to spine and extremities. A few fingermarks and spots, contents mostly clean. 24p Catalogue at end., complete frontis and plates, colour fldg map, some foxing, wear to corners, one or two scuffs to the rear panel.

The author's account of his 1886 sporting trip from Zanzibar to the borders of the Masai with much on the hunting and keen observation of the people and their customs, Czech page 304 : they "trekked into the virtually unknown region of the Tana River, the Taveta Forest and the area near Mt. Kilimanjaro. . . the pair bagged rhino, lion, buffalo, hippo, eland, elephant . . . also a lion hunt along the Tana River"
