He details the natural history and biology of the elephant, relates his experiences as a cultivation officer and provides an excellent chapter on past and future elephant hunters. “I am sure that an elephant looks in human beings in the same way as we look on dangerous insects.” A classic of African elephant hunting.’

260 pp & 35 pp of adverts for gunsmiths, safari outfitters, taxidermists, etc. with frontispiece and 21 illustrations. Original elephant skin grained cloth with the head of an elephant in gilt on the upper cover – the cloth is dull and faded, foxing on end papers, otherwise good clean copy.
