This copy has the ownership stamp of \"Orlando Paes\", who was a well known professional big game hunter of the Mamede family of hunters. The ownership stamp occurs on the contents page and the last page. Contemporary leather binding with raised bands on the spine and decorative tooling in the compartments and a red title label. The edges of the text block are coloured with the same design as the marbled paper boards. Marbled paper end papers. ix prelims, 325 pages, wood engraved frontispiece and tile vignette. CONDITION DETAILS: The title page and frontis are severely foxed, spoiling what would otherwise be a very attractive book. The binding has some wear, especially at the head of the spine, but is attractive overall. The free end papers are foxed. A few soil marks and occaisional foxing in the text. One leaf, pages 15 and 16, came loose and has a chipped edge. The hinges, especially the front hinge are starting to crack.
