Scarce 141pp. catalogue of the art exhibition held to coincide with the Empire Exhibition of 1936. Works from the UK, Canada and South Africa were exhibited. The catalogue lists all of the works, many of which were for sale and includes the sale prices, many of which are astounding in the light of today's market ie. Irma Stern and Pierneef oils at under 50 Pounds! There are circa 70 pages of black and white illustrations, 30 of which are of South African artists. The Fine Arts Committee was headed by Prof. M.L. du Toit and Alexis Preller was on the "Hanging Committee".

The olive green wrappers, illustrated with an Irma Stern painting, are a little soiled but otherwise the book is in very good clean condition.
