Encounters with the Dragon

Like the spine of a dragon's back, the Drakensberg extends from the far north east of South Africa, all the way down the country to end in the Stormberg of the Eastern Cape. The spine is at its most magnificent where the province of KwaZulu-Natal shares its boundary with the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. This spectacular section covers a distance of some 160km and it's where the more dramatic peaks and sheer, weathered precipices are found.
