Margaret Bourke-White. Eyes on Russia. Preface by Maurice Hindus. (New York: Simon and Schuster, 1931). 135 p., [39] p. of illustrations, frontispiece.

Fascinating saga, with impressive illustrations. Bourke-White's first book, recording the photojournalist's experiences in the Soviet Union during five weeks in the summer of 1930, with particularly stunning images printed in gravure. Bourke-White had gone to photograph the vast new industry being built under the Five Year Plan. Light wear to cover: top and bottom of spine rubbed, a few light tape stains. Former owner's bookplate; discreet stamp (of a now permanently closed high school library) on title page and margin of one interior page, no other library markings. Interior hinges starting to crack. Pages clean. Boards. Good.
