A fascinating study of ring-lore from the earliest period to the Nineteenth Century. Includes sections on superstitions, ecclesiastical, betrothal and wedding rings, token rings, memorial and mortuary, and remarkable rings.
Original binding - blue cloth covered boards and spine intact with insignificant wear and rubbing, which adds charm to this relatively tight volume. Somewhat weathered spine with beautiful gold-embossed illustrations.
Front cover also contains a lovely gold-embossing. 499 pages plus Appendix and advertisements (77 pages). Liberally illustrated with approximately 150 drawings. The frontis pages are intact as is the appendix. Textblock discoloured on edges but the individual pages are quite bright and crisp.
