the author recounts his early service in Oudh, with numerous hunts after tigers, panthers, sambur, and spotted deer. Transferred to the North West Provinces in 1880, he had more tigers and had experiences with rogue elephants. He also provides an excellent chapter on the habits of tigers with numerous shooting experiences'
