This lot contains the following four historical property deeds, three from the Oranjevrijstaat in the 1880's - 1890's. and one early Union of S.Africa document dated 1911. They are of uniform size and format, being printed on large folded sheets, the folded size being approximately 43x34cms. With manuscript annotations and original signatures of the current Presidents of the Orange Free State (Brand and Reitz) and the Governor General of the Union of South Africa (Gladstone). The contents are on the front and rear of the first page, the second folded leaf being blank. Each deed has an official seal and ribbons and variable number of stamps. Here are brief descriptions, but I refer interested parties to the images for greater detail:
1. Oranje Vrijstaat. Bethestadt district Bethlehem. Signed by President J.H. Brand and dated 12th. April 1888. (Brand was to die 3 months later in July 1888 whilst in Office). Moderate fraying and splitting of the folds.
2. Oranje Vrijstaat. Botha's-drift. District Kroonstad. Signed by President F.W. Reitz and dated 20th. September 1778. Slight wear at folds but very good.
3. Oranje Vrijstaat. District Kroonstad. Signed on behalf of President F.W. Reitz and dated 21st. December, 1889. Slight fraying but very good.
4. Union of South Africa. Wittebergen, District Bethlehem. Signed by Viscount Gladstone, the First Governor General of South Africa. Dated April 1911. In very good condition.
