Gordon Cundill was born in Africa and learned to hunt among the Zulus; consequently, his lifetime in the African bush has yielded material for a wealth of stories. Read how Cundill with his unusual pluck and courage, faced charges by elephant, buffalo, rhino, and that underrated and yet much more agile than he looks hippo.

Cundill's interesting vignettes deal with people, historical and hunting. He includes an eerie saga of a leopard man, which almost ate an entire family; a tale of saving a maiden from a marauding python) yes, if the snake is big enough and/you are small enough: an adventure of hunting crop raiding elephant from a bicycle and delivering the ivory to the authorities with the same mode of transport: his viewpoint on dogs, aristocratic and otherwise; and his recovery from a serious wreck that nearly cost him his life. He recalls his days with the greats of the industry, such as Harry Shelby, Werner von Alvensleben, Eric Rundgren, and many others. From the reopening of Mozambique t hunts in Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Cundill's elegant wit paints a picture in these vignettes of African life over the past seventy years.
