1954; "Colin: I knew Brocklehurst well: he was Game Warden of the Sudan
and succeeded by "Pango" Barker who is still there.
Brocklehurst was drowned in the Salween River in Burma
during the retreat of the British Forces from Rangoon to Assam
in 1942: I was in Calcutta and present at that time forming
what was later to be Force 136."

complemented by W.H. Riddell's coloured plates, and life-size
silhouettes of spoor. Included is a six-page chapter entitled
"On Killing Elephant" by W.D.M. Bell (Czech, An Annotated
Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books, 1785-1950, p.22).
