A 67pp. stapled booklet in the original glossy wraps illustrated with portraits of Gandhi and Kallenbach. 12pp. of photographs. Light creases to the rear wrapper otherwise essentially a fine copy.
Mohandas Gandhi served his political and spiritual apprenticeship in South Africa. These 57 letters, reproduced here for the first time, span these formative years and provide the reader with an intimate knowledge of his personal life, his political activities, his beliefs and interests. The correspondence represent a fine series of very early letters to his financial patron and intimate friend Hermann Kallenbach. The booklet also contains extensive annotations/footnotes about the letters. Foreword by Ela Gandhi.
Unaccountably scarce.
