The very scarce 1897 second edition of this title, conforming to the description in the South African Bibliography, Vol. 1 pp. 569. Du Toit. Paarl. 79pp. (The first edition is virtually unobtainable). Original cream printed wraps with only light chipping of the fore edge of the front wrapper and slight wear over the spine, but a very good clean copy of this fragile booklet.

This title was reprinted in facsimile by Struik in 1963 from this edition. Coetser was a founding member of the Genootskap van Regte Afrikarers and his publication of this book in 1889 was an early example of Afrikaans printing. "Events of the Kaffir Wars ....... by P.P.J. Coetser, senior, who later on became a guide to the troops after they had some unfortunate encounters with the Kaffirs. The narrative is written in the Taal, and consists of short sketches relating to the early K-r campaigns." (Mendelssohn 1, 350).
