Harold E. Moore, Professor of Botany at Cornell University was the acknowledged expert on the palms of the world. When he died in 1980, he left unfinished his life's goal of producing a 'Genera Palmarum', a guide to the world's palms at the generic level. The authors used his extensive notes to produce this volume which contains accounts of the 200 genera of palms that are recognised.
