39 pages, original printed brown paper wrappers, a very good copy.

The original pamphlet was written in French and printed clandestinely in an edition of fifty copies towards the end of 1803. The newly installed Dutch authorities suppressed it, destroying, it is believed, all but one copy.

A South African Bibliography, volume 3, page 618. ‘The remarks concern mainly native policy and economic policy at the Cape. The author feels that the native races need Government protection, and contrasts unfavourably the Batavian Government policy with the policy of the recent British administration. Because of its censorious nature, De Mist ordered all copies to be destroyed - only one of the original copies survives in South Africa.’
