Genl. Louis Botha. The first Afrikaans edition, the first English edition was published in 1929. SIGNED by author on title page.

Hard cover, green cloth with gilt titles on spine. 368pp, with index, b&w photographs, maps, cartoon. Endpapers discoloured, shows minimal wear.

A mounted photograph of a General Louis Botha's son. On the rear side there is a rubber stamp stating that the photo was sold in aid of the Boer Widow and Orphan fund ("Dit photo werdt verkocht ten behoewe van de Boeren Weduwen en Weezen Fonds - D de Villiers, Sec. Dames Comite) and the inscription "Eleanor van der Merwe. Hoogemoedefontein, Hanover. I got it on Oct 7th, 1902".

A printed note pasted to the back of the photo reads: "Louis Botha, eldest son of Commdt. Gen. Louis Botha, born at Vryheid, August 26th, 1891, was on commando with his father the last eighteen months of the campaign. The following was related by his father....".

Actual picture size is 120x180mm and the imprint of the photographic company Duffus Bros appears alongside Johannesburg and Cape Town below the photo. Board papers are slightly bumped, there is residue on the bottom right corner and a few minor spots and scratches.
