This is the correct first issue with the anti-war passage on page 290 and the Sassoon poem on pages 341 to 343.

This copy is housed in a custom made slip case by master craftsman Peter Carstens with red cloth covered sides, a pictorial in-set on the upper side, decorative paper edges and leather trim.

Original salmon pink coloured cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine. 418 pages. Eight black and white illustrations including the frontispiece which has a tissue guard.

CONDITION DETAILS: A used copy without a just jacket. Top edge dust and a bit of soiling. The binding has some wear - please see the images provided. An eraser was used to remove a pencil price and some notes on the front free end paper, but light indentations still remain.
