Each issue is 8 pages - several with Supplements of usually 6 pages in English and Dutch, bound in old half leather with marbled paper sides – the leather and paper are very worn and both the boards are detached, light foxing throughout.
The Government Gazette was the principal organ of communication of the Cape Government. It included subsidiary legislation - proclamations and Government notices in terms of acts ,bills advertisements, tenders, shipping, divorces births deaths insolvencies etc.
