From the preface: 'This book consists of a detailed account of the grass aloe species in habitat and in cultivation and represents the culmination of some 20 years of active research on this group. All the watercolour paintings of the different grass aloes and pencil drawings of their habitats have been prepared in situ, which has entailed much travelling throughout eastern South Africa where the different species grow.'
