First edition. xx, 612 pages, 15 fine hand coloured plates of the heads of mammals with captions on the tissue guards, 55 photographic illustrations in the text, original olive green cloth titled gilt on the upper cover and spine - which is faded, uncut edges, the corners are slightly bumped with the cloth starting to fray, neatly repaired with cloth hinges and new end papers, the contents which are printed on coated paper are bright, a very good copy.

This edition consists of five hundred copies, numbered and signed, of which this is no 262.
