A very significant student publication as it features the first work in print of 2003 Nobel laureate, J. M. Coetzee. He is also one of the very few authors who has won the Booker Prize twice. Coetzee's contributions to this volume include a three-page poem "Truth Lies Sunken", and a four-page excerpt from a verse drama titled "The Last Spring". He was eighteen years old at the time and wrote as John Coetzee. His first book (Dusklands) would only appear fifteen years later.

This publication also includes some of the earliest work in print of Breyten Breytenbach. His contributions included prose Drie Halwes Maak Een Hele (Three Halves Make A Whole), two poems Na-Nag and Terminus, and a linocut on page 18.

The Cape Coloured poet Adam Small also features with a piece titled Kerslied (Christmas Song).
