First edition: 544 pages, frontispiece, 34 plates, folding map, pictorial grey cloth titled in black on upper cover with a vignette of the head of a zebra and gilt on the spine, starting to fray at the top and the bottom of the spine, uncut fore-edge and top edge, original patterned endpapers, bookplate on front free endpaper, bottom corners lightly bumped, a good copy.

Czech (Kenneth) An annotated bibliography of big game hunting books 1785 -1999: page 40: Bryden travelled though Bechuanaland hunting antelope and small game, crossed the Kalahari Desert, then hunted giraffe near Lke Ngami, Upon reaching the Botleti plains, Byrden’s group bagged Zebra, wildebeest, lechwe and other game. Recrossing the Kalahati expedition took trophy eland. There is a chapter on the distribution of large game.
