The epic saga of Stanley\'s search for Livingstone and their meeting in 1871 (two years before Livingstone\'s death in 1873) captured the Victorian imagination. The colour frontispiece to this volume shows the classic view of their meeting. This book and Livingstone\'s Missionary Travels and Researches (1857) helped shape the Victoria view of Africa.
