Hard cover, in original red cloth, with pictorial front and spine in black and gold gilt that is mostly still very bright. Covers with soil and staining though mostly to the rear that also has a scratch to it. Edges also with soil, light rubbing and a touch of chipping to the lower, corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, former owner's plate on inside front cover and name in ink to second blank end page. Paeges are clear and bright with occasional light soil or foxing. Illustrated frontispiece with tissue guard intact.
