Dutch and English text on opposite pages. An account of the political crisis that ensued in the early 18th century at the Cape 1705-1706.

The introduction includes fifteen pages on the background of Adam Tas and sixteen pages on the authenticity of the diary.

The Diary itself is printed in Dutch and English in 155 pages.

The appendix consists of six chapters in which the conflict between Van der Stel and the Burghers is historically analysed.
