15th Thousand: 265 pages, original beige cloth in unusually bright condition, black endpapers intact, with a slim blue pencil in the holder in the back cover (usually missing), a very good copy.

The inscription on the second free endpaper reads, ‘Lily Hickton (?) with Hildagonda Duckitt’s Love & Good Wishes. St. Lucia, January 15th 1904.’

A page of ‘Opinions of the Press’ appears at the end. ‘The Sunday Times says :-“Under this very curious title Miss Hildagonda J. Duckitt has written one of the most delightful volumes of recipes ever printed. How many are there who have travelled and that do not regret, when back in London, that they neglected to take the receipt of ‘that delicious vegetable curry in Colombo,’ that green tomato omelette in Mauritius, that kedgeree in Bombay, that something-or-other toasted somewhere, and never forgotten? Their number must be very great, and it is by the regretful and regretting multitude that Hilda’s volume will be warmly welcomed.’
