The "Star" set embodies the culmination of fifty years of dedicated hard work by South Africa's first and greatest Historian - George McCall Theal. These sets are not common and ones in good condition even less so. This is a very nice set except for two small faults. The upper hinge of v. 3* is separated and that of v. 7* is splitting, but the mull is intact. Both easily fixed. Events in South Africa are recounted from the Portuguese explorers to 1887. Two of Theal's greatest attributes were his striving for objectivity and impartiality between Boer, Brit and Bantu.
