Volume 1: (1740- 1915) Printed 1915 in Grahamstown. 206 pages.

Includes Appendix A: Copy of a diary kept by Herbert Guest. (20 pages) Detailed account of: On board the "Matilda Atheling: of London, on her second voyage to the Cape of Good Hope, and commanded by Captain Power. 1861- 1862.

Appendix B: Copy of a diary kept by Herbert Guest. (6 pages) His first journey to the Diamond Fields, Griqualand West, 1871.

Appendix C: Copies of letters written by Harold Bates Guest during his term on Active Service with the First City (Grahamstown) Rifle  Volunteers in quelling the Basuto Rebellion 1880- 1881. Engagements he took part in: Relief of Mafeking. Attack on Moletsani's stronghold and Lerothodi's Village. Battle of the Koppies. Numerous reconnoissances. (18 pages).

Appendix D: Notes on the Siege of Kimberley. Written by Claude Davis Lucas. He was son of Annie Elizabet Guest. He was Surveyor to Debeer's Consolidated Diamond Mines, Kimberley. Being an account of the making of the cannon 'Long Cecil' at the De Beer's workshops, and other incidents in the Siege of Kimberley during the Anglo-Boer War, 1899-1902. With a portrait of 'Long Cecil'. (18 pages)

Volume 2: Printed 1938 in Grahamstown. 341 pages. Deals with the family history from 1916 - 1937. Detailed genealogy.

Books condition: Both volumes have been rebound, retaining the original covers in the new binding. Also covered with sticky plastic. All edges trimmed, seemed like it was done by a guillotine. New endpapers. Pages inside bright and clear and in good condition.
