A sumptuous book with 20 exquisite colour plates by Edward J. Detmold tipped in. In the original decorated cream cloth with gilt lettering. Printed on fine heavy paper with top edge uncut and deckled fore and lower edges.
The binding is in very good plus condition. Internally there is occasional scattered light foxing (mainly marginal) not affecting the plates. Otherwise the book is clean and unmarked. In the scarce original printed grey dustwrapper which is in very good condition with slight wear and a 2x1cm. chip at the junction of the top of the spine and the rear panel. Altogether a very attractive copy of this more than a hundred year old book.
