First edition: xxiii, 688 pages + 6 blank pages for notes, colour frontispiece of an elephant, numerous colour and black and white drawings, full brown leather with gilt vignette of an elephant on the upper cover, decorative gilt and title on the spine, all edges gilt, a fine copy housed in a slightly worn light brown card slipcase.

Limitations page reads: One thousand copies have been published by the Amwell Press for the National Sporting Fraternity Limited as the nineteenth book in its African Hunting Heritage Collection. This is copy no.# 730 as authorised by the editor and president of NFSL

Czech (Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785 1999, page 232: forty eight stories of elephant hunting throughout Africa are included in this anthology. While most of the stories are from previously published books by the likes of BlixenFinecke, W.E.M.Bell, Harris, Roosevelt Lyell and others,lessser known modern hunters are also represented including Alice Landreth, Dan Freeman, Georges Blond, A.C. Knollys and others.
