Limited edition: 5 colour plates tipped onto light card with captions, title sheet with an introduction by Dr Frank Bradlow, Chairman of the John and Charles Bell Heritage Trust, the cover of the portfolio is in marbled paper with a brown cloth spine and foredge, a very good set

The limitation reads: This porfolio of water colour drawings is printed in a limited edition of 156 copies made up as follows: 150 copies bound in cloth numbered 1 to 150. This copy is number 10.

Cover title reads: Hunting sketches

Extracted from Dr Bradlow’s introductory notes: Charles Bell accompanied Dr Andrew Smith on his great expedition of discovery in 1834. 'Bell was not the only draughtsman in the Expedition. An accomplished artist George Ford also accompanied Smith. Ford recorded the zoological discoveries of the party, while Bell was responsible for the landscapes, sketches of people and of hunting. While he was travelling with Smith, Bell made some three hundred drawings which Smith himself kept until 1846 when he returned them to Bell.'
