[13] – unpaginated, full page black and white illustrations of scenes from the War all signed H.T.C. bound in a cream card covers – paperback with the crest of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers on the upper cover. The poem MI by Rudyard Kipling is printed in verses underneath the illustrations.

This separate illustrated edition of the poem, called "Ikona" Sketches was published in 1915 by the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers as a memorial to Lieutenant Colonel Hugh Trevor Crispin.

Extracted from his obituary in the St. Georges Gazette 30 Nov 1914 Lieut-Col Hugh Trevor Crispin (1868 -1914) served in the South African War with the 3rd Mounted Infantry from 1899 – 1901. While serving with the 3rd Mounted Infantry he was recommended for highest distinction for gallantry in action. From 8th January 1907 to 17 August 1908 he was in command of the 6thMounted Infantry in South Africa.
