xv pages of letterpress followed by 24 hand coloured engraved plates, original red pebble-grained cloth, stamped in gilt and blind on the upper cover, binder’s ticket on the rear paste-down endpaper, all edges gilt. The binding is loose and two plates are detached, plates 22 and 23 have a page of illustrations from later works tipped-in opposite (one is The British Zonitidae from The Monograph of the British Land and Freshwater Mollusca), the tissue guards are browned and foxed but the plates and letterpress are bright. The cloth is faded and stained and frayed at the edges.
