434 page, frontispiece, title page vignette, 15 engraved plates, original pictorial brown cloth over bevelled boards – frayed and cracking at the top of the spine and splitting along the upper joint, new endpapers, light stains on the frontispiece and title page otherwise contents good.

Mendelssohn (S.) A South African Bibliography, volume 1, page 472, ‘Lady Dixie accompanied the British troops and travelled extensively throughout South Africa visiting Cape Town, Natal and Transvaal during the South African War (1881). She met Cetyswayo twice, of which she relates interesting accounts.’
