How it works

Register

London, Macmillan & Co, 1933. 1st Edition. Near fine full red calf leather with gilt border. Gilt title to spine. Internally good with a portrait frontis. Some scattered foxing. Several pages have had minor damage not affecting the text but now repaired. Very scarce.

Muirhead earned a living poaching elephant particularly in the Belgian Congo and in Portuguese East Africa. His encounters with big game are numerous, and his writing style is quite lively. Besides big tuskers he also relates his adventures with lion and buffalo. As he notes” An elephant-poacher leads a hard life and earns all the ivory he gets.”
