225 pages, frontispiece portrait, numerous plates, elaborately decorated blue cloth, top edge gilt, other edges uncut, front hinge tender but holding firmly on the netting, presentation inscription on the front free endpaper, a very good copy. 

The inscription reads, ‘Hon. E.H. Cherrington, with my compliments, Webster Davis. 

Davis was Assistant Secretary of the Interior in the US Government. He presents the case for the Boer Republics to the American public. He met Reitz and Kruger and became convinced of the justice of the Boer cause. The book contains many interesting photographs from the Boer side.
