Three different portraits of Jan van Riebeeck as frontispiece portraits in each of the three volumes.

The authentic day-to-day account of the first 10 years of the Dutch settlement at the Cape of Good Hope. Over 1 400 pages, many illustrations and maps. Inserted loosely in one volume is a postcard, published by AA Balkema, as an advertisment for the edition when first published - colour portrait of van Riebeeck.
