Seven volumes covering the period 1778 - 1783. The set is in pristine condition.
The Cape Archives Commission resolved on 26 Sept., 1918, to request Dr. Theal to resume his work on the Records of the Cape Colony. Sadly, advanced age and ailing health prevented his compliance. Professor E. A. Walker then suggested that preceding primary sources be systematically published to lead up to volume I of the Records of the Cape Colony - Feb., 1793. The project being undertaken, vol. I of the Kaapse Argiefstukken was published in 1926 - sources of 1778. Subsequent volumes were published in 1927, 1928, 1930, 1931, 1935 and 1938. The goal of linking up with volume I of the Records was not achieved. Although 400 copies of Argiefstukken of 1781, were printed, only 150 copies were bound.
