248pp. Hardcover with original DW. Illustrated maps on end-papers. Colour frontis of herders with sheep. Full page B/W photos and illustrations. Cellophane protected DW.

Some tearing to DW edges. Age-toning to text pages but other than this, the book itself is in remarkably good condition throughout with nice crisp and sharp edges to cover and text-block.

The story of the Karoos of South Africa - the Great Karoo, the Little Karoo and the far corners of the North West Cape and Namaqualand. A highly readable account of these areas with their charming old villages and dramatic arid landscapes. 'Karoo' is arguably one of Lawrence Green's most popular books. First editions, particularly with good original dust-jackets are now becoming increasingly scarce and sought after keepsakes.
