In his introduction the author writes, 'Why did we first decide to go to East Africa? Love of sport, more especially of big-game shooting, and shortage of cash.' In his reminiscences of Kenya and its politics, the author devotes a chapter to 'sporting memories'. There are also chapters on 'Journey through Abyssinia in 1910', 'The war in British East Africa' and 'The war in German East Africa'
Czech (Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of Big Game Hunting Books 1785 - 1999 page 69: Cranworth recounts his numerous political, military and sporting experiences in East Africa, including a chapter relating to his 1960 safari on which he collected buffalo, bongo and sitatunga. There is also and interesting chapter on the famous naturalist and sportsman Sir Frederick Jackson.
