It is of the early ninetieth century travellers to South Africa, the one whose published journal is most prized by collectors is the Reverend C.I. Latrobe.
The First English Edition of 1818, here produced, has 12 hand coloured aquatint illustrations and four lithographs. The entire narrative is characterized by integrity and impartiality which gives it an added importance as a social picture of the period.
Only 1000 numbered copies of this facsimile were made. Numbers 1-100 are bound in full leather with marbled end papers.
This copy is number 30; binding of the book is tight. Overall the book is in very good condition.
