Hard cover Quarto bound in brown full leather, with 48 Pages for the introduction & 408 pages for the actual facsimile.

Gilt titles on the front cover and to the spine. Beautiful colour Illustrations, plates and maps throughout the book.

It is of the early ninetieth century travellers to South Africa, the one whose published journal is most prized by collectors is the Reverend C.I. Latrobe.

The First English Edition of 1818, here produced, has 12 hand coloured aquatint illustrations and four lithographs. The entire narrative is characterized by integrity and impartiality which gives it an added importance as a social picture of the period.

Only 1000 numbered copies of this facsimile were made. Numbers 1-100 are bound in full leather with marbled end papers.

This copy is number 30; binding of the book is tight. Overall the book is in very good condition.
