This is the scarce first edition (UK) of this title published by Jonathan Cape in 1986 and preceding the very common first US edition published by Knopf in a large edition the same year. All five copies of this title previously sold on this site have been of the Knopf edition. Signed by the internationally renowned photographer David Goldblatt on the title page. The book is the second collaboration between Goldblatt and South Africa's Nobel Prize winning author, Nadine Gordimer (after 'On The Mines').
