See the images of the presentation written, signed and dated 3.4.95 by Nelson Mandela. The "illustrious family" that Nelson Mandela is referring to in this inscription is the Thaele family. Flick Asvat's mother was Frances Sarah Mary Thaele, who was married to Kennon Thaele. Kennon, but more so, his brother James M. Thaele figure in the early history of the Liberation Struggle. James Thaele was a co-founder of the ANC. Original pictorial dust jacket. Original black boards with gilt titling on the spine. Map motif end papers. 10 prelims, 630 pages, black and white photographic illustrations. CONDITION DETAILS: The pen inscription has off-set a little on the opposite page. The dust jacket has a few closed tears. The book is still tight and clean.
