Hardcover. Condition: Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Good+. 1st Edition. Fellowship of the Ring - Eleventh Impression (1961) The Two Towers - Eighth Impression (1961) The Return of the King - Seventh Impression (1961) Offered here is a set of "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien, including "The Fellowship of the Ring" (eleventh impression), "The Two Towers" (eighth impression), and "The Return of the King" (seventh impression). Each volume is a hardcover edition, complete with its original dust jacket, representing an early impression of Tolkien's legendary fantasy trilogy. Condition: The Fellowship of the Ring: The condition of this volume has been impacted by previous water damage, noticeable through staining on the top edge and some bleeding on the back pastedown. Despite this, the book remains fully intact, a tight specimen. The dust jacket has undergone professional repair, most extensively for this volume, including a full relining to ensure its durability and presentation. The Two Towers: This book is in good to very good condition, with its dust jacket showing moderate wear before undergoing professional repair to address chipping and minor losses. The fold-out map is present and in good condition. The Return of the King: Shows signs of wear to the dust jacket, including small tears and creases that have been professionally repaired. Inside, the pages are clean and the binding tight. The map is intact, displaying minimal wear at the folds. Additional Information: These editions were published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd in London, making this set a notable acquisition for collectors and enthusiasts. Notwithstanding the noted condition issues, particularly with "The Fellowship of the Ring," the set holds considerable collectible appeal due to the professional repairs made to preserve the dust jackets, especially the extensive work done on "The Fellowship of the Ring" to ensure its preservation and presentation. Ownership name inscription on upper pastedown of all volumes. Includes an adorable note written in Elvish by previous owner.
