First edition. Complete with 47 pages, 3 tipped-in colour plates and 27 black and white illustrations. Cream cloth boards, green titling on front and spine. Board corners bumped with minor loss, discoloration of cloth on right of front cover, sun faded around the spine area, some spots and marks on rear cover.
This title comes with an original pencil sketch of Laubser by the acclaimed artist and author Johannes Meintjes on a sheet with the South African Embassy letterhead. The inscription on verso of the portrait reads: "more in the dark, with compliments of artist (please note artist)". The portrait is initialised and dated 1962. Size of the sheet is 21x27.5cm.
