Original blue boards with gilt lettering to spine.

If I were to make really adequate mention of the kindness of all those who have helped the author in connexion with my work in the New Hebrides, this Preface would be disproportionately long. The reader must realize that the few words which follow are tokens of very real gratitude.

His two visits to the New Hebrides were partly financed by the Trusteees of the Percy Sladen Memorial Fund and by my mother and brother. The latter has also helped very greatly by preparing the maps which illustrate this book and in many other ways. For great kindness and helpfulness while on the islands he is indebted to Mr & Mrs W. Anderson, the Rev. R E Tempest, and Mr T.O.Thomas; and he thanks Professor T.T.Barnard for his companionship on my first visit.

The copy is from The British Residency- New Hebrides and signed by Raymond Mills, Vila. 1955. Several stamps to book.

Half Title. Frontispiece, Title, Dedication, Preface, Contents, List of Figures (43). xiv plus 200 pages text. Odd spots.
