4 volumes: 611, 650, 607, 670 pages, frontispiece in each volume, folding maps, plates and facsimiles (some folding), half titles, full dark reddish orange Niger by Leighton-Straker (backs very lightly faded), titled gilt on the spines and with the Marlborough coat of arms in gilt on the upper covers, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, other edges uncut (with some spotting). Each volume contained in a grey paper-covered slip case with a paper title label on the back. Light foxing on the frontispiece and title page of volume I and on the verso of the frontispiece in volume IV, overall the contents are bright.

This Edition is limited to One Hundred and Fifty-five copies, of which One Hundred and Fifty copies are for sale.

Inscribed on the half title page in volume I in the same hand as the word ‘Presentation’ above, \'To Steve from George / 1933.\'
