Original cream boards with dustcover. Memories, Realities and Dreams: Aspects of the South African Jewish experience.
In December 2000, the Isaac and Jessie Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies Research at the University of Cape Town in association with the new South African Jewish Museum organised a forum to discuss a variety of perspectives on Jewish South African life.
Participants grappled with the South African Jewish community's perspectives on the immigration experience, adaptation to the new country and the construction of a new identity, the host society's response to the newcomers, and attitudes towards racism and apartheid- pressingly relevant issues in a South Africa then only six years down the road of true democracy.
