First Edition. Uncommon UK edition. 1833.

In two volumes, by Scottish born writer Thomas Hamilton (1789 -1842) who travelled through America in the early 1830s and and produced these volumes in 1833 in which he gives us his views on aspects of American Government, culture and attitudes.

Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Very good. Raised bands on spines with morocco labels. Gilt lettering and gilt tooling. Some wear to corners of Vol. 1. Very little wear to Vol. 2.
Marbled edges.

Binding generally very good. Page 277 of Vol. 1 may have become detached but restored with edge slightly showing.

Internally, generally clean with very light and very occasional spotting. Some spotting to pastedowns and endpapers. Small crease (not a tear) of approx 3 cms to prelim of Vol 2.

Both volumes have bookplate of the same previous owner on front pastedowns with imprint of bookplate on first blanks.
